About the Patient Group:
The Apples Medical Centre patient group was set up in 2012. It is made up of patients and run with the following aims:
- To help improve on the experience of attending the surgery for patients
- To help the medical centre decide on overall service priorities
- To help bring perspective on the level and standard of services provided to patients by the medical centre
- To act as a channel to communicate with other patients
- To let other patients know how changes in the NHS affect service provision
- To provide information to patients about the help available in the community, including support groups and networks
At its heart the patient group exists to help everyone - our doctors, nurses, pharmacy staff and administrative staff who bear the brunt of patient enquiries and demands.
The group meets three times a year and comprises of a chairperson, the practice manager, a GP and patients. In addition, on an ad hoc basis, representatives from ICS attend our meetings.
To date, the patient group has:
- Established a core membership, and meetings with the medical centre team
- Conducted a patient survey
- Published newsletters
- Provided an additional voluntary resource to support vaccination events and other initiatives
- Developed a communication strategy and messaging service to all patients via the monthly 'Apples Soundbites' text messages
- Formed a good working relationship with the primary care network digital lead to help refresh the apples website and online services to become more user friendly to patients.
The group is always looking for new members to help improve the overall experience at the Apples Medical Centre. Please email applesppg@gmail.com for further details on how you can help. Please help us help them!
